Sourcing guides

Checklists for the part of sourcing that happens before the first order: is this company real, can it do the work, and what does the paperwork actually prove.

How these differ from a blog. Every example in every guide is a published factory profile in this directory, linked at the point it is used. No composite cases, no anonymised “a client of ours”, no illustrative numbers invented to make a point. If a claim in a guide cannot be traced to a source page, it does not go in the guide.

Who they are for. Buyers and engineers outside China evaluating a first or second order: no Mandarin, no local agent, no factory visit yet. The guides assume you have a quote in hand and twenty minutes to decide whether it deserves a reply.

Verification · 1 November 2026 · 20-minute read

How to verify a Chinese PCB supplier in 20 minutes

Six checks in a timed order, all free and public: the legal entity behind the brand, the website as a maintenance record, certificate numbers in the issuing registries, capacity arithmetic against insured headcount, US customs bills of lading, and an eight-flag stop list. Includes a copy-paste scorecard and an honest account of what twenty minutes cannot tell you.

Cluster measurement · 1 November 2026

The Suining cluster, measured

Twelve plants in one Chinese prefecture, 5,800 insured employees, capability coverage across nine board types — and a digital-presence audit that explains why foreign buyers cannot find any of them. The dataset behind every example in the guide above.

志超科技(遂宁):一个 1,267 人的工厂,在 AI 眼里没有页面

An evidence-layer audit of a display-PCB plant with zero crawlable assets: no A record on its registered domain, no company-owned sentence in the first five search results, three industry classifications for one legal entity, and a database that lists a dead domain as its official website. Includes a P0/P1/P2 fix list and a 12-query retest table. Written in Chinese for the factory’s own team.

Quotation structure · 1 November 2026 · read

What a Chinese PCB quote actually contains

Nine line items, six clauses, five variables that make two unit prices incomparable. A reading guide to the document that decides who pays when the boards arrive out of spec — with eight questions to send with the next RFQ. No price ranges, deliberately.

First-visit audit · 1 November 2026 · 12-minute read

A factory audit checklist for a first visit

Six documents to collect before you fly, the physical route from goods-in to despatch, twelve photographs worth taking, and the five things a walk-through cannot judge by looking. Written for two days in Guangdong or Sichuan with no interpreter — and structured so the report you write afterwards survives a procurement review.

Why AI assistants recommend the factories they do

Eleven homepages in one Chinese PCB cluster, fetched on the same day and scored on six properties an answer engine can actually observe: zero blocks of structured data, zero language pairs, two machine-readable summaries — one of which describes the wrong product. Includes the order of fixes, cheapest first, and what a buyer should conclude from an AI answer that names a trading company instead of the plant.

Corrections. If a guide misstates a fact about your company, write to hello@emssuppliersverified.com with the page and the source. Corrections are made to the guide and to the underlying profile at the same time, and the profile records the date of the change.
